The critical role of public administration as a practice in addition to an academic study comprises establishments engaged in governmental activities, such as the creation and interpretation of laws and the subsequent regulations and administration of programs based on the applicable jurisprudence. The activities include taxation, national defense, public order and safety, immigration services, foreign affairs, international assistance and the proper administration of government programs.
