Students of a trade school can delve into the many career options associated with earning a cosmetology degree. Cosmetology has been an integral part of modern society, with the advent of beauty products, fashion and media, the industry standards of cosmetology have required formal schooling. Hair Colorist: A hair colorist specializes in just coloring hair. Hair color has been seen to make clients look youthful, or can be used as self-expression or for impact in high fashion shows and photography.

Nail Technician: A Nail Technician will perform services such as manicures on hands and pedicures on feet. These services can be simple nail polish colorings, acrylic tips or ornamental designs.

Esthetician: Estheticians are experts in maintaining and improving healthy skin in many different environments such as salons, med spas, day spas, skin care clinics and private practice. The primary function of an Esthetician is to perform skin treatments that include hair removal (waxing, threading, tweezing, sugaring), facial massage, body treatments (wraps, exfoliation, hydrotherapy), skin care consultations, chemical exfoliation, eyelash and eyebrow tinting, eyelash extensions and aromatherapy.

Make-Up Artist: a make-up artist is skilled at the application of make-up either for special occasions, themed photo shoots, fashion shows or any other event requiring the steady hand and beautiful touches of a professional.

Electrologist: An electrologist is a beauty industry must-have, the highly trained individuals offer hair removal services with the use of an electrolysis machine. Removing hair with the electrolysis machine is permanent after several sessions and is usually more expensive than traditional waxing or threading. Electrologist generally must earn a separate or additional license depending on the state requirements.
