GetEducated.com has released a new data-driven list of low-cost online degree programs for librarians. The national online education survey is specific to online library science masters degrees.

Get Educated compiled the online degree cost rankings by comparing tuition and online learning fees at 16 online masters degree options offered by 15 accredited library science graduate schools.

The Get Educated rankings showcase the 10 most affordable library science degrees online nationwide.

Universities surveyed for the rankings were regionally accredited with library science degree accreditation by the American Library Association (ALA). The national survey is based on 2011 data, which is specific to each school’s online masters degree programs as opposed to their residential or campus degree programs.

Average online masters degree cost: $21,087

Lowest cost: $7,371 for an Online Masters of Library Science from East Carolina University (North Carolina)

Highest cost: $45,000 for an Online Masters of Science in Library & Information Science from Drexel University (Pennsylvania)

“College cost remains a serious obstacle for professionals seeking online masters degrees, especially for professional careers, such as library science, where high levels of education are mandated, yet salaries remain stagnant” says Vicky Phillips, founder of GetEducated.com. “Get Educated is pleased to publish this data so librarians can safely compare accredited online degree programs before they enroll.”

Online degree students can review and compare 3,000 accredited online programs by cost by visiting the Get Educated Best Online College ranking lists which showcase objective data on low-cost online degree programs, many offered by traditional state colleges which support online degree programs for working adults.
