How to Sort Through Jungle of Online Degree Programs

An estimated three million people this fall will go online to take a college class. Since 2000, GetEducated.com says enrollment in Internet-based higher-education coursework has grown at an average 35 percent yearly clip.

"There are definitely more phony schools than valid, accredited universities offering online degrees," Phillips said. "But someone willing to do their homework and become an informed shopper can find a lot of solid options to choose from these days."
