I have contacted this school via their website and also sent a message directly to the registrar requesting a copy of my transcript. I have heard nothing from anyone. What would you suggest to me to do about this? I have recently gotten a new job and I listed that master's degree on my resume. It's taking a while for the background check to be finalized and it's holding up my start date. I'm thinking it's because nobody can get in touch with anyone at Columbus. Would you suggest that I get a lawsuit against them and if so, what chance do you think I would have of winning?

Hi S,

There is a full report on Columbus University of MA/LA in our diploma mill police database here:www.geteducated.com/diploma-mill-police/degree-mills-list/columbus-university-accreditation

This online university is NOT accredited by any recognized agency to award college degrees in the US. In addition, it appears that the owner has been in prison on fraud charges since 2010. SEE the news report here:www.wwltv.com/news/Former-state-senator-running-fraudelent-school-from-behind-bars.html

Given the above, I imagine it may be difficult for you to get any documentation from this school. While the school still has a website, there is little indication that it is operating at present.

Your best recourse would be to contact your state's attorney general for information on this school and any consumer concerns you might have. Here is the link for the state's attorney general consumer complaint office: www.ag.state.la.us/Article.aspx?articleID=36&catID=0

Best Wishes
Vicky
