I am interested in a graduate-level certificate in Logistics Management that is 100% online. What are my best options as far as a high quality program and good value for my money?

Hi SITCOM,

The Get Educated directory contains 30 online degrees and certificates with the term "logistics" in the title. To find these, just go to the home page and input the keyword logistics in the open search box on the big blue Find Online Degrees panel.

Once you have these results, use the Filters on your left to narrow your search by level to Graduate - Certificate/Diploma. I get 4 results when I do this. In cost order your options are:

American Military University - $5,400
American Public University - $5,400
University of Maryland University College - $8,028
Central Michigan University - $10,480

You can use the filters on your left to narrow your search of these 4 even further.
For example, if you only want to see regionally accredited certificate options you can set the FILTERS on your left to REGIONAL. (Regional accreditation is the type of accreditation held by "traditional" residential colleges.)

In this case all 4 of your certificate options are regionally accredited.
You can also set the FILTERS to see just non-profit colleges. That would include:
University of Maryland University College - $8,028
Central Michigan University - $10,480

Logistics Management as an academic major can mean different things in terms of the actual courses offered and how these might apply to your actual job/career. You'll want to visit each school's profile to see details and then visit the schools.

All 4 of these options are 100% online, a detail that is stated on each profile.

In this case you'll pay more for the certificates in this area offered by traditional, non-profit residential colleges: Maryland and Central Michigan. American Military and American Public are actually divisions of the same for-profit college system and that system is well known in military and military contractor circles. That school system tends to set prices based on the levels pre-approved for payment in military and government contractor circles. You'll likely find those 2 online certificates contain the very same courses.

You'll see a lot of variety in the type and number of courses offered by these schools online so compare each to see which (if any) relates to your career needs.

Hi Dyan,

Thanks much for the input!

A college certificate or degree in project management (which can include logistics as one area)is different from a private vendor certification in project management. They both have value. In order to complete a private vendor certification you will need to take both courses and complete on the job project management tasks and take a private vendor certification exam. Both processes have value and meaning in the career world.

The Project Management Institute (PMI) offers several private non-collegiate certifications, including the PMP -- Project Management Professional. This credential is awarded to managers who show work background and experience, plus pass the private exam.

The International Project Management Association is another credentialing organization, which offers a four-level series of certificates to project managers worldwide. These certificates also require exams, work experience portfolios, and an interview.

All the Best
Vicky
