Hi Heather,

We don’t yet have a top online degree list specific to online edtech master’s for corp training or higher education. Some of the programs on this list have majors or concentrations in adult learning, training or higher education.

One great example for this major would be Boise State University Online Master’s in Instructional and Performance Technology:

Once you do the above search look to the FILTERS on your LEFT and CHOOSE a MAJOR. For you this might be adult education, training and development, instructional technology and educational technology.

I am currently looking at Masters EdTech programs but more geared towards higher ed and corp training. Have you published a list for these programs?

Wow this is helpful because I am looking for a masters in education online and had not seen any of these degrees online in my searches. I don’t want an educational tech major online but a teaching online degree that will let me do licensure in Illinois for general K-12 or a good specialty like math and science. Thanks so much for the tip to look at University of Illinois Online. They are really probably going to be a good choice for me to consider. I hope you do more lists like this with state colleges online.

I really hope one day we get past the ‘online’ stigma in the public. It is just a change in technology, in my opinion. We shouldn’t let some bad PR undermine the effort.

I’m not saying anyone here is, just a general venting.

Thank you for mentioning the MAET program at Michigan State University. We actually do meet state licensing agreements in the state of Michigan and many other states recognize our degree for licensure renewal and sometimes offer reciprocity for the NP Endorsement. We are happy to help work with state departments of education to explain our program and how it fits into license renewal. While our degree is fully online, we also have a hyrbrid option for our program where students can come to campus for two weeks (for the same flat-rate fee as online students.) Students can also combine a summer (or two, or three) of overseas study into our program as well (also as a flat-rate all inclusive tuition rate.) We're proud of the flexibility our program offers to K12 practitioners and sincerely thank you for recognizing us. As a final side note, we too have a hybrid PhD program which started in the summer of 2010 aimed at practitioners. Mizzou is actually in the Big 12, not Big 10… even though the Big 12 has 10 teams and the Big 12 has 10… we won’t go there….

Thanks for the tip! You are right that GVSU is not in our directory of 350+ online education masters. Our director of info services, Melissa, is currently updating and adding new masters in ed to the data set through Nov 15 and I have asked here to go and review this degree and add it to our directory. I asked her to email you when she has it added as once it is in the online college directory your students can review the degree also.

Thanks again for the tip. If you know of other online masters not in our directory let us know and we’ll get those reviewed for inclusion.

Thanks much for commenting. The University of Illinois Online still operates as a public marketing gateway for all online degrees in the U of I system at http://www.online.uillinois.edu/. The University of Illinois Global was a different marketing project that was pulled awhile ago. All the degrees Get Educated profiles are “online” so that is a part of each degree’s title in our directory system. People can access all the degrees offered online by all the U of I systems campuses still at the master URL above.

We have a relatively new and accredited online masters program in educational technology from our public university in Michigan. I don't recall receiving a survey or being evaluated in any way. I suspect the authors of this report didn't even know we exist so we were not considered in this top 10 list. But I also know that we spent many years developing our program before taking it live and that we have outstanding faculty, targeted and rigorous instruction, and satisfied students. What we don't have is the big name. {sigh}
