GetEducated.com, a consumer group that publishes rankings and reviews of the top online colleges, based on higher education costs and credibility, has released their list of the Best Online Colleges for online psychology degrees, or degrees in allied human service or social service fields. The Get Educated online college affordability rankings are based on a survey of higher education costs at 48 regionally accredited universities that offer 92 distance degrees at the bachelor level.
Colorado State University Pueblo, ranked #1 on the Get Educated best online college rankings for their online bachelors in social science and sociology. Online students will pay under $18,000 for this distance degree. State of residency does not make a difference in online university tuition costs at CSU-Pueblo. At CSU-Pueblo, a state college, online learners nationwide enjoy the same low tuition as Colorado residents.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Distance Learning program ranked #2 in cost savings for their unique online bachelors in rural social work. Online students in Alaska will pay about $21,000 for this degree. Non-residents, however, will pay considerably more (about $63,000).
Fort Hays State College of Kansas earned a top #3 ranking at an estimated tuition cost of just over $21,000 for online students, regardless of their state of residency. Fort Hays offers an array of online degrees in psychology and human services majors ranging from child development to gerontology.
By comparison, the average higher education costs for an online bachelors in a human services career area came in at $44,174. The University of Phoenix Online earned a “D” in college affordability for their online bachelors at a cost of $66,000.
Only one college on the GetEducated.com top 10 online colleges ranking list was a private school: Columbia College of Missouri. That school, founded in 1851, is a traditional non-profit, residential university which today also offers an array of affordable online degrees.
The higher education cost survey revealed that the most expensive online bachelor degrees for human service professionals come from Drexel University, at over $104,000, and Mercy College (New York), at over $78,000. Both are private colleges with traditional residential campuses.
